Service
Employment & economic stability
Benefits connections, job-search support and participant-selected goals.
Income, benefits and employment goals differ from person to person. We help explore options and practical next steps based on the participant’s priorities and circumstances.
What we help with
- Job search assistance
- Resume development, including translating overseas experience into what a US employer reads
- Referrals into workforce development and training programs
- Career planning and goal setting
- Education and credential pathways
- Financial literacy resources
- Connections to community employment programs
A note on foreign credentials
Qualifications earned outside the United States may need evaluation or additional steps. Where relevant, resource navigation can help a participant identify credential-evaluation and training options.
Who this support is for
Employment planning can help someone organize a job search, identify training or understand how work fits with other household responsibilities. The starting point may be a first job, a return to work or experience earned outside the United States.
The participant chooses their goals. Paid employment is not the only possible economic-stability goal; understanding benefits, planning a budget or preparing for education may be the immediate priority. We discuss options within the agreed service scope.
Practical work on the next step
Support may include preparing a resume, identifying suitable search resources, organizing applications and preparing questions for a workforce program. A plan should account for travel, childcare, accessibility and the participant's preferred language.
A weekly action might be one completed application or a conversation with a training provider. The point is an achievable next step that the person understands. Contact frequency and the work ApexRise can undertake must be confirmed first.
Qualifications earned outside the United States
A qualification and the permission to practice a regulated profession are different questions. Requirements depend on the occupation, employer, licensing body and training provider. We can help identify the organizations that explain credential evaluation or additional training.
Before paying for a course or evaluation, ask the responsible organization what it accepts, the likely costs and how the option fits the goal. ApexRise cannot promise recognition of a credential or admission to a program.
Work, benefits and housing together
If a household receives benefits or income-based assistance, ask the responsible worker or a qualified benefits specialist how a proposed change in earnings must be reported. Avoid making a financial decision based only on a general estimate.
Coordination can connect an employment goal to transportation, childcare or housing planning. That does not make housing contingent on taking a job, and it does not guarantee that other programs will fund the plan.
Availability, funding and costs
Before services begin, confirm the scope, who will provide it, the funding arrangement and any cost to the household. Contacting ApexRise does not confirm eligibility or enrollment in a publicly funded program. The responsible agency may require an eligibility decision, an authorized referral and confirmation of capacity.
Counties and organizations can review our partnership approach. Related support includes community resource navigation and family support & independent living.
Questions people ask
- Can ApexRise get me a job?
- We can discuss job-search support and connections to workforce resources. Employers make hiring decisions, and we do not guarantee placement.
- Can my overseas experience go on a resume?
- It can be relevant to a job search. We can discuss presenting experience clearly and finding the organization responsible for any credential or licensing requirements.
- Can I work on housing and employment goals together?
- Yes, those needs can be planned together within the agreed service scope. Each benefit, housing or training program still makes its own decisions.
- Will working change my benefits?
- That depends on the benefit and your circumstances. Ask the administering agency or a qualified benefits specialist about reporting and how earnings would be counted.
